MRS ITALIA was founded in 1973 by Giovanni Sassi as an enterprise specialized in surface coating of metals, mainly for applications where ultimate wear and/or corrosion resistance is mandatory like for instance in the chemical and nuclear industry. As a matter of fact, the acronym MRS stands for: M - Metallizzazione (Flame spray metalizing) R - Riporti (Hard-face coating) S - Stellite (Stellite) Over the years, market opportunities in the plastics industry were exploited and with the experience gathered in metalizing, high quality extrusion screws were produced. Under management of Ivan and Monica Sassi, son and daughter of the founder, metalizing was phased out in favor of design and manufacture of components for extruders. Continuing along these lines, today MRS ITALIA is a prime supplier of screws and barrels for extruders to an international clientele consisting of both OEM's and end-users.
