M.R.S.:
Metallizzazione, Riporti, Stellite

The acronym M.R.S. stems from decades of experience in hardfacing and applied metallurgy, and still today encapsulates the MRS technical approach and history—applied for over 30 years to the design and manufacture of plasticizing screws and plasticizing barrels.

Our history

Over 30 years of experience at the service of innovation in plasticizing processes

Not just components, but integrated solutions. MRS produces not just screws, barrels or plasticizing units, but customized technical solutions, designed and built to measure for each requirement. Each project is handled end-to-end: from design, to production, to final testing.

Founded over 30 years ago, MRS Italia has built its know-how on the solid foundations of its founders’ experience and on the continuous evolution of materials and processes. Today MRS can count on:

  • 30+ years of consolidated experience
  • Expansion and renewal of departments with state-of-the-art technologies
  • Strict selection of raw materials, certification and full traceability
  • R&D of engineering solutions for wear and corrosion resistance and performance improvement

Value proposition

The screw at the heart of innovation

In M.R.S. Italia we believe that the screw is the heart of the machine and we make it our mission to provide the best standard or customized solution leveraging on our 30+ years of experience and continuous research.

With over 30 years of experience in manufacturing plasticizing screws and barrels, we have developed a deep understanding of polymers and of our customers’ production needs, enabling us to solve plasticizing-process issues and support productivity over time.

Experience

We constantly invest in research and innovation, working closely with customers to analyze their production processes and development needs. Thanks to our in-house team and our experience and manufacturing capabilities, we develop plasticizing geometries for screws and optimize their manufacture by selecting the most appropriate metallurgical solutions according to customer requirements. Our continuous research has led to patents related to the plasticizing process, including mixing elements and barrier geometries.

Research & Development

The entire manufacturing flow is carried out within MRS, from raw-material sourcing to final testing of the finished component. We use high-quality raw materials, state-of-the-art heat treatments and coatings, under rigorous quality-control procedures, to ensure full compliance with customer specifications.

In-house production

Experience, research & development, and certified in-house production translate into a quality-driven approach. We develop tailor-made solutions that resolve plasticizing process constraints, increase machine efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve the quality of the finished product.

Quality: MRS hallmark

For MRS, quality is not just a requirement; it is a genuine obsession that guides every choice and every phase of work. It is the MRS hallmark, and the reason customers have chosen—and continue to choose—MRS.

High quality standards are ensured by a rigorous control system, beginning with raw-material selection and continuing through every single manufacturing stage. Each component undergoes detailed checks, with dedicated instruments and qualified personnel, to ensure full compliance with the requested specifications.

Every item is fully traceable:

  • Identified by a production work-order number, enabling traceability of steel heats and overlay-alloy batches
  • Provided with a unique serial number, allowing targeted checks during the various production stages

At the end of the process, a detailed report is issued for each component, including:

  • All drawing dimensions with specified tolerances and the actual measured values
  • Results of tensile strength Rm (N/mm²) tests
  • Hardness measurements HV – HRC – HB

Upon request, the complete documentation is delivered to the customer and archived in MRS systems for at least 15 years, ensuring maximum transparency and reliability.

For MRS, quality is not a goal to be reached, but a daily, essential practice - a commitment put into every single part to ensure excellent performance and long service life.
